The 3 series BMW is a staple of the South African motoring scene and there is no denying its impact on SA motorists. We take a look at one of the simplest DIY maintenance jobs that you can tackle on the 3 series that can save you a trip to the dealership.

Third times the charm

The BMW 3 series is the 3rd most searched for vehicle on AutoTrader. That alone is a testament to its popularity. With so many of these executive sedans floating about there will undoubtedly be a few owners who want to do their own maintenance. One of the easiest DIY jobs you can tackle is changing out your windshield wipers once a year.

We can show you how to do this in a few easy steps in a matter of minutes.

You will need:

  • New Wiper Blades for BMW 3 Series
  • Soft Cloth

Let's get started!

  • Make sure that you have the proper replacement wiper blades for your year and model.
  • Lift the wiper arm up.
  • Push or pull the retaining clip upwards to release the old blade.
  • Remove the old blade ( Don't let the wiper arm go or it will smash into your windscreen! )
  • Insert the new blade and push/pull the retainer clip back into place.
  • Put the wiper arm back down.

PRO TIP: DO NOT dry activate the new wipers if your windscreen is still dirty, the microscopic dirt will damage the new blades before they have had a chance to work.
