How to change the headlight bulbs on a Jeep Wrangler

Owning a Jeep Wrangler is an adventure in itself. Changing the headlight bulbs should be on your list of automotive DIY.
Bright lights
You have a Jeep Wrangler, that automatically makes you an adventurous type! Changing headlight bulbs on your Wrangler should be a piece of cake compared to climbing a steep mountain trail.
Replacing the headlight bulbs on your Wrangler does require a few speciality tools and some daring do but changing them yourself will be just as rewarding as fording a river.
You will need:
- Replacement bulbs
- Panel clip removal tool
- Small flat head screwdriver
- Torx bits and driver
Let's get started!
- Using the small flat head screwdriver, remove the six black panel clips that hold the grille surround in place.
- Using the panel removal tool pull the panel clip surrounds out of the grille
- Gently pull the grille surround forward to expose the headlights
- Using the appropriate Torx bit remove the four screws holding in the light assembly
- Unplug the wiring harness from the assembly
- Gently twist the bulb holder to remove from the light housing.
- Replace the bulb making sure the rubber o-ring gasket isn't damaged.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
It may seem daunting at first but this a cinch to do once you know how and should be no problem for an adventurous spirit such as yourself.
