Being a premium-brand car, the Audi A5 comes fairly well-equipped as standard. But, as with almost everything in life, there’s always room for a little improvement. With this in mind, we had a look at Audi’s approved accessories list, to find five useful extras you should retrofit on your used Audi A5.

1. Adapter cable for Audi music interface – USB port (type A)

Until fairly recently, Audi’s specification sheets showed some strange anomalies. For one thing, they didn’t come with built-in USB ports, instead relying on micro-SD card slots for digital interfacing. With this USB port adapter, you’ll be able to plug your phone or music player directly into the car’s audio system for live music streaming.

There's a unique iPhone cable on the accessory list as well, which opens up added functionality for iPhone users. It’s also nice to be able to charge your phone without the hassle of plugging a power adapter into the 12V power outlet...

2. Bicycle Rack for the Trailer Tow Hitch

Provided you have a tow hitch installed on your A5, you can use this removable rack to transport two bicycles wherever your adventure leads you.

It’s cleverly designed to not interfere with the boot opening, so you can get to your gear in the luggage compartment as well. And, when you get back home, it’s a simple matter to lift the rack off the tow hitch and store it safely in your garage.

3. Anti-theft wheel bolts

It’s a sad reality that folks with long fingers walk among us, and that they know how much a nice set of alloy wheels is worth on the used market. Fortunately, you can stop them in their tracks and hold on to your stylish wheels, by fitting these wheel locking bolts.

Each bolt set comes with its own unique key, so thieves won’t be able to use any generic unlock key to nab your car's wheels. This one is definitely worth the expense!

4. Park Distance Control

The downside to your A5’s swoopy styling is a very shallow glasshouse. This leads to restricted rear visibility, and increases the likelihood of accidentally bumping against a wall or other obstacle. Fitting this park distance control system will give you warning long before you inflict any damage to your car, and for that reason alone is worth the effort and expense of having it fitted.

5. Rubber floor mats

Audi has gone to a lot of effort to select beautiful, high-quality carpets for your A5. But, if you want to maintain its resale value, you’d be well-advised to invest in a set of quality floor mats to protect the nice carpeting underneath.

This set fits very precisely, minimising the chance of dirt entering around the edges, and the ribbed rubber finish will make sure that your feet won’t slip when you enter or exit the car.

Carefully selecting the accessories for your Audi A5 will not only help to preserve its appearance and value, but will also allow you more freedom to use the car in the ways you need. And, by going with OEM-standard extras, your A5 will be treated to add-ons which will complement the car’s design, making it even better than when it came off the production line.
