First service for our long term Ford Ranger Tremor

Our long-term Ford Ranger Tremor was due for its first service, and although sometimes these experiences can get the blood pressure boiling, our experience was enjoyable!

Full service history

In January 2025, AutoTrader took delivery of a Ford long-termer test unit that would serve as our crew vehicle, filming rig, and product test mule for the duration of the year. The Tremor has been nothing short of amazing in this role and has performed flawlessly at the hands of all the team members.

In no time, we had reached the required service interval of 15 000 km, and the Tremor would need to visit a Ford dealer to have the necessary service performed to ensure that the warranty and future value remained intact.

Ford Ranger Tremor - Long Term Update 2

Servicing adventure

Booking the service was a relatively straightforward affair. If you have the Ford Pass Connect App loaded on your smartphone and your vehicle connected, you will receive a reminder, as we did. You can then choose your nearest dealership and book the car through the system. We took the extra step to confirm our booking at the dealer in Randburg and got our reporting time.

We arrived promptly at 7 a.m. the next morning and booked the vehicle while sipping on an excellent complimentary coffee. The service advisor asked a few questions about updates and recalls, and after checking the VIN number, it was determined that the Tremor would need a software update as well as service. The process was effortless, and we were on a shuttle to our office before we knew it.

A few hours later, we received a phone call from the dealer informing us that the Tremor was finished and ready for collection and asking if we would need a shuttle to collect us to come and pick up the vehicle. We opted to have a colleague drop us and were pleasantly surprised, the Tremor had never been this clean since it rolled off the assembly line!

We signed off the invoice and left the dealership in less than 10 minutes, happy with the excellent service we received.

Verdict

The Ford Pass Connect app made booking the Ranger's service a breeze, but even if you don't have the app, using the Ford website service booking system is just as easy. The service staff and advisors were well informed, helpful, and super friendly, and they made you feel valued and important. The service didn't take very long, and we had the car back in record time. Taking your vehicle in for its service interval can feel harrowing, but when it's this seamless, it is quite an experience.

A big thank you to CMH Kempster Ford in Randburg for the fast and efficient service
