The Abarth 500 is a firecracker of a car. Based on the Fiat 500 platform, it's powered by a potent 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that makes 99 kW and 180 Nm – which may not sound like much, but this will happily propel the diminutive little hatchback from a standstill to 100 km/h in a brisk 7.9-seconds while it goes onto a top speed of 205 km/h.

The latest version is the Abarth 595, which is powered by a similar 1.4-litre turbocharged engine but makes anywhere from 121 kW in the standard 595 Turismo to an insane 132 kW in the Competizione version.

Early 500 models are fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, while later models are equipped with 17-inch alloys as options (these are standard on 595 Tourismo and Competizione models)
