This is what a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 owner sees when they start-up their car. Let’s break down what each of these warning lights refer to:

1. Engine malfunction indicator lamp. If it stays on after start-up, then have your car checked as soon as possible.

2. Parking brake engaged. Could also light up when brake fluid is low.

3. Engine Temperature warning. It can also indicate coolant levels are too low. There is risk of engine damage if driving is continued.

4. Fuel is low and needs topping up.

5. Seatbelt not on – buckle up!

6. ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) warning/malfunction. ABS prevents the wheels from locking under heavy braking conditions and normal brakes are not affected. Drive with caution.

7. SRS Airbag warning – This will light up when the restraint system is faulty. Either the air bags or the Emergency Tensioning devices may either be triggered unintentionally or, in the event of an accident, may not be triggered at all.

8. ESP (Electronic Stability Program)/Stability Control - If ESP is turned off, various stability and safety features will be disabled.

9. Warning Alert – this will illuminate when there is something on the system that requires your attention.

10. General information display where engine and oil temperatures are also displayed.
