5 extras you should retrofit on a used Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

We list 5 of our favourite Toyota Genuine Accessories that we believe every active Land Cruiser Prado owner should fit to their vehicle.

Car Ownership

There's no getting around the fact that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a 10-year-old design. It may be wearing a fresher face but the solid underpinnings are largely unchanged, and for good reason. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The J150 Land Cruiser has received several facelifts and equipment upgrades over the course of its duty with the most recent coming in 2017. This makes the Prado a viable used option with 2017 models available from as little as R600 000. Don't believe me, check the listings here: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift.

If you subscribe to an active, adventurous lifestyle where your vehicle is your greatest asset, why not treat it to some functional, Toyota Genuine Accessories. You can check out their full selection here: Toyota Genuine Accessories for the Land Cruiser Prado.

1. Compressor System

Did you read the story above? If not, it outlines how Ané took a Prado flying over the dunes in Atlantis. It's a great way to spend the day with your Prado but also requires that you deflate the tyres. But what about inflating them? This handy compressor replaces a panel in the rear of the Prado and allows you to inflate your tyres to the correct pressure when you're done.

2. Headlamp Guards - Clear

If you're not collecting a few branches when you go off-road, are you even trying? Sticks and stones are par for the course when taking your Prado off the beaten path and what better way to protect the expensive headlights than with a clear, protective cover? These covers will guard your headlights both on and off the road.

3. Towbar - Detachable Gooseneck

The Prado is large, there's no two ways about it, but if it's still a little small and you need to tow a trailer, this removable gooseneck tow bar may be just the ticket. It's also handy for those with boats or caravans that only need a tow bar a few times a year.

4. Floor Mats - Rubber

You're going to take the Prado off-road. You're going to get dirty and you're going to trek that mud and dirt into the car. The best way to protect your investment is to simply install a set of these rubber mats that have been made to fit the Prado exactly. No loose carpets to get stuck under pedals and being rubber, these will be hard-wearing and easy to clean.

5. Nudge Bar - High

Designed to complement the Prado's design, this high nudge bar will once again help with the brush and thicket as you explore the wild outdoors. You will need the parking sensor harness that goes with this that is sold separately.
