The Mazda Mazda6 was never as successful locally as it should have been. The second generation did relatively well but when the third generation was introduced to South Africa in 2014 for the 2015 model year, the public uptake was rather slow. By this stage, Mazda was offering their wonderful CX-5 and buyers appeared to opt for the high-riding SUV instead.

As a result, the third-generation Mazda6 was nowhere near as popular and in 2016 Mazda removed it from their local lineup. This didn't stop it from being a great car with outstanding road manners and a high standard trim level. This also makes it a great used car proposition as they can be had for around R200 000 with relatively low mileage.
