Which Opel Mokka trim holds its value better?
The Opel Mokka model was part of a product offensive from the German automaker that started as far back as 2014. Currently, you can't purchase a new Mokka but a few can still be found in the used vehicle market. We take a look to find out which Opel Mokka trim hold its value better?
During 2015, Opel introduced the Mokka to the local market space. The new model was destined to compete in the B- and C-SUV segments and was offered in two trim levels namely Enjoy and Cosmo. Both trim options come fitted with a 1.4-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol motor producing 103 kW and 200 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission for either trim.

At the end of 2016, Opel announced the Mokka X which served as a facelifted replacement to the original Mokka. On the exterior, one of the most notable changes is the new headlight clusters that combine daytime running lamps and LED technology. The interior saw new colours incorporated as well as the dashboard design of the then-new Astra model.
Trim levels
The later Opel Mokka X models in Cosmo guise came fitted with a high-end R4.0 IntelliLink infotainment system. The driver also benefited from a new driver display whereas the latter features remained optional on the Enjoy derivatives. Cosmo model featured a full leather interior where the Enjoy variants retained cloth finishes. Furthermore, both front occupants on the Cosmo derivatives gained access to heated seats, an option omitted on the Enjoy models.
Cosmo models further benefited from an automatic dimming interior mirror, automatic window wipers and automatic headlamps. Cosmo drivers have the convenience of front and rear park distance control and reverse camera as well as auto-dimming interior lights and folding mirrors. The exterior of both trim levels is very similar with a slight change in the 17-inch alloy wheel designs.

Opel Mokka Enjoy
At the time of launch during 2015, the Opel Mokka in the lesser-specified Enjoy trims retailed for R315 300. Now nearly seven years later we can still find used Opel Mokka Enjoy models on AutoTrader with less than 100 000 km on the odometer. The combined average price of used Opel Mokka Enjoy models with less than 100 000km comes to R194 921. This means since its introduction in 2015, the Enjoy trim has lost 38.18% or just over R120 379 of its original value.
Opel Mokka Cosmo
The Opel Mokka in the higher grade Cosmo trim that was introduced during 2015 retailed for R350 500. Now nearly seven years later we can still find used Opel Mokka Cosmo models on AutoTrader with less than 100 000 km on the odometer. The combined average price of used Opel Mokka Cosmo models with less than 100 000km comes to R201 959. This means since its introduction in 2015, the Cosmo trim has lost 42,38% or just over R148 541 of its original value.
Conclusion
If you are in the market for an Opel Mokka but is worried about how well it will retain its value, then the Enjoy trim level might be just the one you are looking for as it lost the least amount of value over the nearly seven-year period. However, if you are looking to get the most bang out of your buck, the Opel Mokka in Cosmo trim is ideal as not only do they include higher specification levels but is offered at a very similar average price.
