Which Hyundai Creta holds its value better?
The Hyundai Creta is one of the most popular compact SUVs in South Africa and is slow to depreciate. Models registered between 2017 and 2019 with up to 80 000 km on the odo, fetched an average of 79 percent of their original price at auctions. But which model is the one to own?

Hyundai SA reports that shoppers in this market segment are mostly driven by budget, and therefore the entry-level 1.6-litre petrol model, the 1.6 Executive (see below, R364 900), is the derivative that is the most sought after. Dealerships are able move these smart-buy Cretas quickly as they are always wanted by budget-conscious consumers who want the most bang for their buck.
The entry-level Creta derivative comes well-equipped for its price, making it a firm favourite among value-seekers. With specifications such as ABS, EBD, and six airbags, as well as man-made leather seats, it's a winner for families and adventurous couples / senior citizens alike. Verdict
The least expensive Creta 1.6 Executive manual (below, for R 364 900 new) is the model to go for if you want to be assured of getting your asking price when the time comes to sell your Creta on.
Other contenders that hold onto their value almost as well include the Mazda CX-3, with a resale value of 77.61%. The Ford EcoSport with 71.15%, and the Renault Captur with 69.82%.Other players in the segment that should have decent resale value include the Volkswagen T-Cross, Nissan Qashqai, Suzuki Vitara, Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, and the new Kia Seltos.
