BMW's fitted with the M Sport Package usually have a better resale value.

M Sport Package

BMW salesmen have mentioned that the M Sport Package/trim, which is BMW’s top trim, is the one that holds better onto value than the other trims. On the used-car market, it's also the more sought-after vehicle.

M Sport is a package on your 320, 330, or 335 model which mainly features cosmetic updates on the exterior and interior to make the car look sportier. Sometimes, the M Sport package will also be fitted with performance upgrades that include a sports suspension and upgraded exhausts that marginally affect the car's handling dynamics.

The M Sport trim does come at an additional price, not a significantly large amount, but it still costs less than specifying each option individually.

M Sport vs M

Many buyers get confused between an M Sport car and an M car, but we are here to clear the confusion.

As aforementioned, the M Sport is a package that comes with a mild sporty upgrade over the standard car that includes a sporty exhaust, sporty wheels, stiffer suspension, and sportier seats. Whereas an M car is engineered from the ground up by BMW’s motorsport division. Such examples of an M car is the 1M, M2, M3, M4, M5, and M6.

An M car will have significant differences such as a stiffer chassis, wider body and several components used are not cross-compatible. Essentially, everything in the powertrain and suspension assemblies is higher performance oriented: the engine, transmission, springs, shocks, driveshaft, differential, axles, control arms - everything!

If you're still deciding on what trim you should get, then check the next article on the Top 3 BMW 3 Series trims head to head where we cover all the additional features, exterior and interior, on every trim.
