What is the difference between a Chery Tiggo Cross and a Chery Tiggo 4 Pro?
Chery has stamped its authority on our local market, servicing consumers who are looking for affordable family crossovers that are not only attractive but useful as well. The Tiggo 4 Pro is their best-selling model but could potentially be usurped by the new Tiggo Cross.
Tiggo Cross vs 4 Pro
In late 2024, Chery SA unveiled the new Tiggo Cross on our local shores. In overseas markets, this vehicle is seen as the replacement for the Tiggo 4 Pro, but locally, both vehicles will continue to be sold alongside each other, which raises the question of what is the difference between the two.

It would seem that Chery has gone to the drawing board, listened to feedback from the global audience, and changed and updated a number of systems and features, as well as design language and trimmings, to make the Tiggo Cross a better vehicle than the 4 Pro. But let's take a closer look at everything that Cherry has changed.
What safety features does the Chery Tiggo Cross have?
Exterior
Although the Cross and 4 Pro look similar, a completely new design language is used on the Cross. The front, rear, and sides all use a dramatic styling language that Chery calls Bionic Cat. Upfront is a new diamond reverse grille flanked by new vertical DRLs and slimmer, now LED, headlights. Down the side is a new body line and 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, new cat-inspired LED taillights. Overall, the cross has a more modern, youthful appearance that sets it apart from the older Tiggo 4 Pro.
Interior
Stepping inside, the new cross receives an updated interior with soft-touch elements, plush leather seating, and updated tech. Chery engineers spent some time here, as one can see that they have listened to customer feedback. There are now physical buttons that one can shortcut to functionality. You no longer have to delve into the depths of the infotainment system to change things like climate control and safety settings.
Elite versions of the Cross get a sunroof now, and all models get the 10.25-inch infotainment, auto lights, and rain-sensing wipers. Overall, the Cross' interior is very attractive, if not conservative, and is a much nicer place to spend time.
Drive Train
The same drive setup powers the new Tiggo Cross and the Tiggo 4 Pro. Nestled under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo that produces 108kW and 210Nm. Both vehicles employ a 6-speed DCT transmission. Chery claims both vehicles should return 7.2 L/100km, but our combined cycle testing on both returned figures hovering in the mid-8s.

The Tiggo 4 Pro will remain the cheaper option as it continues to be sold alongside the Cross model. How long we can expect the 4 Pro to be around is anyone's guess, but it remains Chery's best-selling model for now.
