What is covered under Range Rover Evoque used car warranty?

Seeing as the Range Rover Evoque is quite expensive as a new car, it makes sense to look at a used one instead. And, if you’re considering a used Evoque from Land Rover’s Approved selection, there’s a warranty on offer that might just reinforce that decision. We take a look at everything that’s covered under the Range Rover Evoque’s used car warranty.

This warranty only applies to late-model Evoques bought through Land Rover Approved, however. Older examples will make with either what’s left of the original manufacturer’s warranty (provided they’ve passed a quality inspection and all the relevant paperwork is in place), no warranty at all, or perhaps an aftermarket warranty (which is essentially just mechanical breakdown insurance). 

 

The Land Rover Approved Promise

As noted on their website, the Land Rover Approved Promise (which is basically just a posh name for their used-car warranty scheme), Land Rovers less than 5 years of age, and with less than 100 000 km on the clock, will be covered by a warranty for a minimum of two years or 60 000 km, whichever occurs first – up to the value of the vehicle’s purchase price. 

Obviously, all repairs, servicing and maintenance for this period will have to be performed by Land Rover dealers, according to manufacturer specifications, and with genuine Land Rover parts, but that’s par for the course for this sort of cover.

 

Roadside assistance

In addition, Land Rover will throw in free roadside assistance for two years. This is a particularly appealing option, because it also provides for onward travel arrangements, vehicle repatriation (in case of breakdowns outside our national borders), accommodation, or an accident management service. 

You’ll also be covered with assistance in the case of a tyre puncture, lost keys, or minor emergencies – 24 hours of each day, for the full two years. That sure sounds like peace of mind, especially for single drivers or those covering long distances.

 

Multi-point inspections and independent checks

Before an Evoque could qualify for Land Rover Approved Promise, it has to pass a 165-point check performed by trained dealership technicians. If all is clear, they car will also be subjected to an independent vehicle- and history check. This will show if the car has been stolen and recovered, or been involved in a potentially debilitating accident. 

It’s not only the vehicles that are independently checked, however: the dealerships themselves, including their facilities and staff are also inspected to ensure that they all meet the requirements of demanding customers.

As a general rule in these cases, it’s a good idea to have the car’s main mechanical parts covered by such an extended/additional warranty: engine- and gearbox breakdowns should be covered as far as possible, and given the level of electronic sophistication of modern cars, some electrical/electronic coverage will not go amiss, either.
