The Land Rover Defender 110 created quite a splash when it landed last year. Many die-hard fans thought the name plate was gone forever when it was discontinued in 2016 but Land Rover surprised with a new model boasting oodles of tech and even more off-road capability, would the purists like it though?

The room seems to be split on this as many have likened it to a Discovery saying that the new 110 has lost what made it a Defender. Whether you're a fan or not, Land Rover stands by their product offering very comprehensive backup.
Let's take a look at what kind of coverage you can expect from your Land Rover warranty and what you may need to pay for should it be needed.
Coverage
All Land Rover Defender 110 models sold in South Africa are covered by a 5 year / 100 000km warranty, service and maintenance package called Land Rover Care. It consists of the aforementioned three parts and customers will have the benefit of 24 Roadside Assist and the option the service their Defender at any dealership across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
If any part needs repairing or replacing due to a manufacturing fault, the work will be done by a Land Rover Approved Service Centre using genuine Land Rover parts, all free of charge.
What the warranty does NOT cover:
The Land Rover Care Plan absorbs all maintenance and service costs, except for:
- Top-up fluids
- Fuel
- Cracked or broken glass
- Tyres
It is advisable that customers do the required service and maintenance at the intervals suggested in the owners manual to keep their Defender within the warranty specifications.
The Land Rover Care Plan is registered with the new vehicle and as such is transferable to the new owner should the car be sold before the Care Plan has expired
