What is covered under BMW manufacturer car warranty?

BMW owners can have peace of mind knowing that a car under Motorplan is covered for a variety of services. 

All automakers provide some form of new car warranty with their vehicles. These warranties provide specific coverage for a certain number of years which all differ amongst the automakers. Some will provide coverage for three years, some for five years and some may provide for a longer period. Usually, the cover is the same but some automakers will offer other unique benefits such as free roadside assistance, 24-hour customer service or other valuable services.

New car warranties cover problems that occur as a result of defects in materials or workmanship. These can be voided by the automaker if they find that the owner has failed to comply with the maintenance requirements set out by the maker. 

Factory warranty

BMW owners are protected from any problems that stem from manufacturing defects. It covers bumper-to-bumper protection, a specific corrosion warranty, as well as roadside assistance. What differentiates BMW from other automakers is that they don't offer a separate warranty for its powertrain, it's all covered under the basic 5-year/100,000km coverage.

Every Motorplan covers the following:

• Repair work to all major components, beyond the Standard New Vehicle Warranty
• All maintenance and service work stipulated by the intelligent maintenance system, Condition Based Servicing (CBS).
• All repairs and costs of parts from normal wear and tear which may occur when the manufacturer's warranty has already expired.
• All oils, brake fluids and other lubricants replaced during a service.
• Vehicle mileage is checked and verified on the BMW Motorplan system.
• Access to 24-hour roadside assistance through BMW On Call.

Renewal/Extended Warranty

When a car is approaching the end of its warranty (BMW Motorplan), it will be eligible for an extended warranty to lengthen the amount of time or mileage the car can be covered for. From the standard  5-year/100,000 km warranty, it can be extended to a maximum of 7 years or 200,000 km. Another benefit that comes with extending your warranty is that you are paying current prices for future services.

What is not covered under BMW Motorplan?

• All alterations, modifications, accessories, tyres, glass, soft-top canvas, and accident damage.
• Any repair work resulting from the owner's negligence or abuse.
• Paint, body and trim repairs.
