Virtually all car manufacturers offer a factory warranty on new vehicles. A factory/manufacturer's warranty usually includes a new vehicle limited warranty, sometimes referred to as a bumper-to-bumper warranty. A factory warranty may also include a powertrain warranty, maintenance, corrosion and emissions coverage. Here's what is covered and excluded from the Audi warranty for a new A3.

Claims

Claims for repairs or defects can be made only at authorised Audi Dealers and must be made immediately upon ascertaining the defect.

Warranty Cover

The warranty covers the replacement or repair of defective parts according to technical requirements. Replaced items become the property of Audi South Africa

Cost

No charge will be raised against the customer with regard to the cost of repairing or replacing defective parts on an A3 in terms of the warranty, except for the cost of consumables such as oil, grease, brake fluid, and additives, etc.

Exclusions

1. This warranty does not cover damage or defects due to:

(a) Repair of the vehicle by a workshop, not authorised to effect the service and/or repair;

(b) Installation of parts and/or accessories, the use, of which has not been approved by Audi South Africa;

(c) Failure by the purchaser to comply with the instructions for the operation of the vehicle as reflected in the Instruction Manual, Operating Specifications and any other documentation accompanying the vehicle on the date of delivery and/ or brought to the attention of the purchaser;

(d) Failure by the purchaser to comply with the service schedule. In this regard it should be noted that, Audi South Africa reserves the right to reject any warranty claims and/or repudiate the warranty cover if services are not carried out within 1 000 kilometres of the specified service interval;

(e) Maintenance and normal wear and tear including, but not necessarily limited to:

  • Brake and clutch linings, fan belts, drive belts, V-belts, wiper blades and injectors;
  • Standard services and oil changes, including oils, gaskets, filters and other materials used either during or after the services such as oil and grease;
  • Light bulbs and fuses;
  • Wheel balancing, front and rear wheel alignment, the frequency of which depends largely on driving techniques such as rapid starts, stops, tyre skidding, collision with potholes and kerbs;

  • Windscreen and window glass breakage after the expiry of one (1) month from the date of purchase of the vehicle or after it has covered a distance of 1 000 kilometres, whichever occurs first;
  • Tyres. Claims must be referred to the manufacturer of the tyres;
  • Batteries which are guaranteed by the manufacturer of the battery for a period of twelve (12) months. This does not apply to cracked batteries for which a claim may be submitted to Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited, provided such claim occurs within 7 000 kilometres. Claims after 7 000 kilometres will not be accepted;
  • Remote control batteries; Audi Warranty Page 2
