We compare details of the three engines in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta line-up to see which is the most efficient.

The engine line-up of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta features three turbo petrol engines -  the 1.4 Turbo Petrol, the 1.4 Turbo MultiAir TCT and the 1750 Turbo Petrol TCT.

In order to measure efficiency, we breakdown the details of each engine:

1.4 Turbo Petrol

No cylinders: 4, in-line

Power: 88 kW (120 HP)

Torque: 215 Nm

Gearbox: 6 speed

Capacity: 1368 cm3

Max power kW at rpm (DYNAMIC): 88 at 5000 rpm

Max torque Nm at rpm (NORMAL): 215 at 2500 rpm

Top speed: 195 km/h

0-100 km/h: 9.4 seconds

Fuel consumption: Urban cycle: 8.3l/100km, Extra-urban cycle: 5.3l/100km, Combined cycle: 6.4l/100km

CO2 emissions: 148 g/km

Environmental class: Euro 6

This engine is ideal for those who need a car that not only has low running costs but can also handle city traffic effortlessly. The turbo engine ensures a prompt response even at low speeds while the Start&Stop system makes it possible to cut consumption and harmful emission levels drastically, without compromising comfort and onboard safety.

1.4 Turbo MultiAir

No cylinders: 4, in-line

Power: 125 kW (170 HP)

Torque: 250 Nm

Gearbox: 6 speed

Capacity: 1368 cm3

Max power kW at rpm (DYNAMIC): 215 at 5500 rpm

Max torque Nm at rpm (DYNAMIC): 230 at 2250 rpm

Max torque Nm at rpm (DYNAMIC): 250 at 2500 rpm

Top speed: 218 km/h

0-100 km/h: 7.8 seconds

Fuel consumption: Urban cycle: 7.6l/100km, Extra-urban cycle: 4.6l/100km, Combined cycle: 5.7l/100km

CO2 emissions: 131 g/km

Environmental class: Euro 6

Our Giulietta engine efficiency crown goes to this engine. This engine uses a mix of technology systems to blend high-performance levels with the lowest emissions and fuel consumption levels in its class for petrol engines of this power rating. It’s said to be a lively and flexible engine which is also fitted with the Start&Stop system. This engine’s fuel consumption and emission levels resemble more of a diesel engine than a petrol one with this power rating (4.6 l/100 km in the extra-urban cycle and 131 g/km of CO2 emissions).

1.750 Turbo Benzina 240 CV TCT:

No cylinders: 4

Capacity: 1750 cm3

Max torque Nm at rpm: 340 at 2000 rpm

Top Speed: 244 km/h

0-100 km/h: 6.6 seconds

Fuel consumption: Urban cycle: 9.8l/100km, Extra-urban cycle: 5.3l/100km, Combined cycle: 7.0l/100km

Emissions CO2: 162 g/km

Environmental class: Euro 6

Due to the use of a lightweight material such as aluminium, along with the combination of the Alfa TCT automatic transmission with the Launch Control system, this engine allows the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde to achieve an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
