Volkswagen introduces face-lifted Polo GT

One of the most popular cars in South Africa has ust received a facelift. The Polo GT receives a host of upgrades and spec changes and will now top the standard model offering.

Since its launch in the local market in 2018 close to 120 000 of the second-generation Volkswagen Polo Vivo have been sold with a total of 313 620 in cumulative sales recorded. Q2 2023 will see the range-topping Volkswagen Polo Vivo GT getting a fresh new look with exterior and interior updates.

The Polo Vivo GT’s unique styling and characteristics have been enhanced whilst the flagship status within the Polo Vivo model range is maintained. Sporting a top speed of 196 km/h, the 1.0 litre TSI 81kW engine offers exciting performance as the 200Nm torque is available at 2000rpm. The performance has not compromised fuel consumption; the 81kW engine has an impressive claimed fuel consumption of 4.6 l/100 kilometres.

Exterior changes

New exterior highlights include silver mirror caps, GT rear decal, wheels, and dash inserts as well as GT decals on the front door. Attractive exterior features such as 17-inch Mirabeau wheels, Lights and Vision Package, and a single pipe exhaust with chrome trim coupled with a lowered suspension (-15mm) and a black tailgate spoiler all coupled with the new Wild Cherry Red metallic exterior color, make to the GT seem like the boy racer dream car.

Interior additions

Fresh interior attributes include front sport seats, aluminium-look pedals, GT embroider floor mats (front and rear), and ‘Anthracite’ headlining. For a sportier interior look, the cloth insert and stitch colours have been changed from blue to red. New grey stitching on the gear lever and handbrake ties in with grey exterior accents. On the tech side, the GT gets a Safety Package as standard and cruise control, all very welcome additions to this popular vehicle.
