With only two engine options available, the first generation Ford Figo offers one of two respectable levels of efficiency.

The first-generation Ford Figo's fuel efficiency

The first-generation Ford Figo was one of the few cars in its segment that offered a diesel option. The 1.4 TDCi was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and was only available in the Ambiente trim. This model didn't prove too popular though and Ford dropped the diesel from the lineup when they released the second generation Figo.

The new one offers a wider range of engine and gearbox options but the first generation was kept sweet and simple with only a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.4-litre turbodiesel on offer. All models were only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

When the facelift came around in 2012, there were no changes made to the engines and drivetrains and these claimed fuel consumption figures remained unchanged.

These are manufacturer claims for average fuel consumption, which is a mix of urban and highway use. Real world figures will often vary slightly depending on the year, mileage, condition of the car and the driving style of the driver.

Figures are quoted in litres per 100km (l/100km) and were correct at the time of publishing.

Ford Figo 1.4 Ambiente                           6.6l/100km

Ford Figo 1.4 TDCI Ambiente                  5.3l/100km

Ford Figo 1.4 Trend                                6.6l/100km
