First launched in 2013 into the B-segment hatchback market, here's a breakdown on what the Chery J2 has to offer.

1. Design

Chery designed the J2 with a sleek and uncomplicated design philosophy that is evident at every angle.

Large headlamps and an aggressive grille inflate its personality, while the combination rear light clusters complete the overall flowing lines.

Street credibility is said to be maximised by the 15-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels and the colour-coded side mirrors, both of which come standard.

2. Performance

The J2 is powered by a 16-valve, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine that puts out respectable power of 72 kW at 6000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm at 4500 rpm. The engine is paired to a five-speed manual transmission.

MacPherson strut suspension in the front of the car and trailing arms with coils at the rear is said to ensure confident and precise handling as well as a smooth drive.

 

 

3. Space

There is sufficient room for five adults and the boot offers a capacity of 270 litres. This can be increased when necessary, simply by folding down the rear seats.

4. Safety

The Chery J2 is fitted with several safety features. These include the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), side-door collision bars, dual front airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners. There’s also an alarm and immobilizer to ensure your J2 remains where you left it.

 

 

5. Entertainment

Entertainment in the J2 is delivered courtesy of a Radio/CD/MP3 player with six speakers. This system includes a convenient USB interface, allowing you to plug in your favourite external audio gadget and play your own music.
