Top 5 optional extras for your new Tiguan Allspace
The Tiguan is one of SA's most beloved SUVs, and the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace is also proving to be popular among those who need a vehicle big enough for a successful carpooling operation, or travel with their dogs or their bicycles...or both! Here are a few choice optional extras that will make your ownership experience more rewarding.
The Tiguan Allspace does not come cheap, however we feel that it's good value for money, and the fact that it hardly depreciates means that you won't be crying when you sell the Tiguan on or trade it in for a bigger SUV, like the Touareg, one of our favourite large off-roaders.

Here are five of our favourite extras for the Tiguan Allspace:
1. Electric Panoramic Sunroof, R 13 250
Let some light into your life and make your AllSpace's cabin more airy and bright. Available on all models.
2. Park Package Plus, R 12 950
This option is available on all Tiguan Allspace models except the Trendline. It allows for fuss-free, semi autonomous parallel parking as well as an area view camera. There is a cheaper option available too at R 5 350, but this excludes the area view camera. However, a rearview camera is standard in this package.
3. Active Info Display, R 9 000
You've probably heard about Audis's virtual cockpit? The Active Info Display is the same, but by a different name. It is a high-resolution screen that replaces the traditional instrument binnacle behind the steering wheel. You choose what you see, be it the Google Map or the songs playing on Spotify. Basically, it's like having the screen of a tablet behind the steering wheel. It's not available on Trendline models, though.
4. 9.2-inch Touchscreen high end Satellite navigation "Discover Pro" with DVD drive, Bluetooth and USB interface also for iPod/iPhone including AUX-IN jack, R 16 500
This is the 'big daddy' of infotainment systems and it does exactly what it says on the package. Think crisp and clear graphics and a user-friendly interface (see image below). It's available on all models except the Trendline.
Trendline models can opt for the R 8 600 8-inch touchscreen radio/CD "Composition Media" system with Bluetooth, SD Card, USB interface with App-Connect and Voice Control, however.
5. Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning), R 5 350
If you spend a large part of your life stuck in traffic, then adaptive cruise control is your new best friend. Instead of you working the accelerator and the brake pedal, the Tiguan's cameras and radar can "sense" and "see" when the traffic in front of you stops and starts moving again. This allows the Tiguan Allspace to pull away, slow down, or stop, as the car in front of you does. Available on all but the entry-level Tiguan Allspace.
