Top 5 extras for your new Audi A1
The Audi A1 is one of the most stylish premium hatchbacks on the local market. It certainly does not come cheap, and you have to count your pennies if you want to afford one, but it's hard to contain yourself when you're presented with the list of desirable extras! We took a long hard look at the different packages available and selected five of our favourites.
We selected the entry-level variant for this exercise; the A1 Sportback 30 TFSI S tronic, with a base price of R429 500. 30 TFSI models are fitted with a 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine, good for 85kW and 200Nm. It's able to sprint from 0-100 km in just under ten seconds. Not the fastest nor the feistiest, but the most affordable. Check out these 5 packages we've selected:
1. A1 Sportback advanced trim line, R7000
This trim line increases this Audi A1's price to R436 500, but we think it's worth every cent. The entry-level model, without any frills, looks a little drab, and this advanced trim line raises it to seriously sexy heights. Your money buys you Advanced bumpers, a radiator grill in Titanium Black, with the radiator grille frame in matte sliver, and side air intakes in matte black. It all looks marvellously textured in all the right places. Around the back, this option brings a rear diffuser in Titanium Black matte and door sills with aluminium inserts.

2. Lights package, R15 640
Opting for this package increases the efficacy of your A1's headlamps, and is especially helpful if you struggle to see well at night. It adds LED head- and rear combination lamps, with dynamic turn signals in the rear.
3. Sports package, R15 440
The A1 is rather sporty-looking to begin with, but adding the sports package just ups the ante even more. Your additional R15 440 gets you front sport seats, a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and shift paddles, Audi Drive Select, and black headliner which will keep your A1 looking better for longer. You can also add leather seats free of charge if you choose this package.

4. Technology package, R10 400
Audi's much-loved virtual cockpit isn't a standard feature in the entry-level A1, and we think it's a must-have. This pack also includes the Audi Smartphone Interface, which enables smartphone mirroring and functionality via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Audi sound system is thrown in as well.
5. Comfort package, R10 810
If the A1 is a car that you'll share with your significant other, we recommend the Comfort Package. We speak from experience when we say that one person is always hot while the other freezes. With dual-zone auto climate control, each person can choose their ideal temperature for their side of the car. The comfort package also includes cruise control, and the storage package, for when you don't want to carry everything in your partner's handbag.
