Top 5 BMW M4 accessories you didn’t know you needed
They’re still nowhere near cheap, but used examples of the stunning F82-generation BMW M4 are approaching the price range of a new Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5 or Audi Q2. Here are five accessories for the M4 to give it strong visual impact, while turning it into a track toy to be reckoned with.
1. 19’’/20’’ M Performance forged wheel Y-spoke style 763 M Jet Black matt wheel set
Black wheels have become respectable and look as suited to the streets as it does on the track. The 19’’/20’’ M Performance forged wheels Y-spoke style 763 M are beautifully designed in Jet Black with the colour M logo. The wheel size is 9J x 19 with tyre size 265/35 ZR19 98Y XL at the front and 10J x 20 with tyre size 285/30 ZR20 99Y XL at the rear.
Each forged wheel is made from a single piece of aluminium, that is weight-optimised through flow forming. Aside from an optimum lifespan, they offer extreme stability and absolute concentricity. To ensure quality is maintained over the long term, the wheels are “subjected to comprehensive trials and tests in accordance with high BMW safety standards,” the manufacturer says.
The set is supplied with four Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and tyre-pressure monitor sensors (TPMS). Installation must be performed by a BMW dealership or a specialist workshop approved by BMW. Damage to any part due to incorrect fitment is not covered under warranty.

2. M Performance carbon fibre ceramic brake system
Standard brakes just won’t do for an M4 that will spend time on track (which it should). A set of carbon ceramic brakes is expensive, but it has multiple benefits: The brakes are extremely durable, fade-resistant, 60% lighter, and precise. Made from carbon-fibre-reinforced ceramic silicon carbide composite, they are also extremely long-lasting and corrosion resistant. The visual highlight of the brake system are callipers in matt gold with the BMW M logo. As the wheels above, they have to be fitted by specialists, so approach your BMW dealer for a referral.
The kit consists of: four M Performance carbon-ceramic discs, brake calliper housings, a brake pad repair kit and a brake booster. The brakes must be run in carefully during the first 200 km after installation, to reach full effectiveness.

3. BMW M Performance Alcantara steering wheel with carbon fibre trim and race display
One of the most exciting interior features of racing cars is the shift-light cluster in or on the steering wheel. When driving the car on track, these sequential lights alert the driver to the upshift he or she has to perform next. This leads to optimal performance and it is a damn sight easier to read than a rev counter. The BMW M Performance steering wheel, upholstered in high-quality Alcantara, performs this function, and more. It provides excellent grip – at any temperature and in extreme driving situations.
The race display in the newest OLED technology and the two-toned LED gear-shift displays to the left and right give the vehicle an authentic motor-sport feeling – even in everyday use. At the push of a button, the Race, Sport, or EfficientDynamics Mode can be engaged. A stop watch (in Race Mode with 1/100 second indicator) and g-meter for forward and side acceleration deliver up-to-the-second data relevant to motor sports. It is also possible to save up to 50 lap times and best scores for speed and lateral and forward acceleration. The trim made of lacquered carbon fibre gives the steering wheel a unique look.
The kit consists of: the BMW M Performance Alcantara steering wheel with carbon fibre trim and race display, rim with carbon trim, wiring harness, control unit and operating instructions.
