Top 3 things you need to know about the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The latest E-Class Coupé combines the beauty and classic virtues of a grand tourer with state-of-the-art technology. It also offers the intelligence of the E-Class family and the latest assistance systems with the option of, among other functions, partially automated driving. Here are some features that stand out.

 

1. Welcome feature of tail lamp: E-Class Coupé

Equally typical of a Mercedes coupé are the two-part, extremely flat LED tail lamps, which, in combination with LED MULTIBEAM headlamps, celebrate the world premiere of a welcome feature. When the vehicle is opened, the taillight LEDs illuminate successively from the centre of the vehicle outwards. On locking the vehicle, the light sequence runs in the opposite direction. Both are additionally combined with an up and down dimming feature. This taillight show welcomes and says goodbye to the vehicle user similarly to the familiar welcome feature of the blue optical-fibre show in the front headlamp.

Due to innovative crystal optics, the tail lamps also have a brilliant appearance reminiscent of the glow of a jet engine.

 

2. MAGIC VISION CONTROL: E-Class Cabriolet 

Optional extras on the new E-Class Cabriolet include MAGIC VISION CONTROL. It is an intelligent and highly efficient wash/wipe system for the windscreen. Its water ducts integrated into both sides of the wiper blade supply the cleaning fluid to a point just in front of the wiper blade lip every time, according to the direction of movement of the wiper. It allows ideal cleaning of the windscreen without the familiar splash of water that can briefly disrupt the driver's field of view. 

Furthermore, when the soft top is down, the Cabriolet function's electronic control system reduces the amount of water, supplying the required amount of water to a point just in front of the wiper blade lip, mainly on the downward stroke of the wiper arm. In this way, the windscreen can be conveniently cleaned at any speed and with the roof open - without any of the water spraying into the vehicle interior. The complete system, including the wiper blades, is heated when the outside temperature falls to prevent snow or ice from sticking in winter.

 

3. Most powerful E‑Class: Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+

The most powerful E‑Class of all time is now available to order and will arrive at sales outlets in the guise of the E 63 S 4MATIC+. 

With the new generation of the E 63 S 4MATIC+, Mercedes‑AMG is taking the dynamic driving limits of the performance sedan to a completely new level. The vehicle's beating heart is the powerful 4.0‑litre V8 biturbo engine. The E 63 S 4MATIC+ achieves new peak power of 450 kW. This makes the V8 the most powerful engine to have ever been installed in an E‑Class. At the same time, thanks to the AMG Cylinder Management intelligent cylinder shut-off system it has been possible to increase the efficiency of the engine significantly. By accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, the  additionally achieves a new best value in its class.
