The KIA Picanto is one of the most-loved city cars in South Africa, here's why.
1. Adults can fit inside
Despite its small stance, the KIA Picanto has actually grown 5mm in height over its predecessor. Its wheelbase also grew by 15mm and the overhangs were adjusted, making the cabin a roomier place. If you’re a part of the six-foot club, then you should have no problem fitting into the Picanto.
2. Safety and Driver Assistance
Standard safety kit in the KIA Picanto includes driver and passenger airbags, ISOFIX anchors, and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
The top of the range SMART models further includes a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and Rear Park Distance Control to make backing up safer and easier. This trim also includes front projection bi-function headlights with LED rear combination lamps, as well as electric folding mirrors and side mirror indicators.
3. Available with automatic transmission
KIA expanded its Picanto range in 2018 by adding a 1.2 SMART Auto model into the line-up. Previous models were only available with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Picanto 1.2 SMART Automatic is powered by a four-cylinder 1.25-litre MPI engine that puts out maximum power of 61 kW and 122 Nm of torque. The engine has been paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The combination of engine and transmission is said to ensure high levels of fuel efficiency to keep running costs low.
