While it might not look like it, the GWM C10 is based on an earlier Toyota Yaris model. The small hatchback, which was one of the last to be introduced by GWM before they changed focus to crossovers and compact-SUVs, is no longer on sale as a new vehicle, however, you can still find clean used GWM C10 examples on AutoTrader.

The GWM C10 first featured a conventional grille design upfront after which Chinese manufacturer updated the styling to incorporate an attention-grabbing V-shaped look. The model was later replaced by a crossover namely the C20R which omit the distinct grille but incorporates a taller ground clearance.
Powertrain
Under the bonnet of the C10 features a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, VVT petrol motor. The engine produces 77 kW and 138 Nm which is ample for a vehicle this size. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. As alluded to in its name, the motor featured variable valve timing but also multi-port fuel injection.
Despite all the efficiency enhancements made to the motor, the little 1497cc motor only managed an average fuel consumption figure of 7.1 L / 100 km. This meant you could expect just over a 560-kilometre range from the 40-litre fuel tank.
Comfort
The GWM C10 occupy the budget end of its segment and as such customers might not expect much in terms of comfort items. However, the Chinese hatchback has a comprehensive list of items to benefit the occupants. The driver benefits from a height-adjustable seat, audio control buttons on the multifunction steering wheel and power steering.
Occupants of the C10 further gain access to electric windows at the front and back, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, air-conditioning and a radio/CD/MP3 audio system with auxiliary and USB inputs. Central locking also features as standard as well as an engine immobiliser.
Safety
When purchasing any vehicle, it is always recommended that the customer take note of all the active and passive safety systems that feature on the vehicle. In the C10, the driver and the passenger upfront benefit from an airbag each while the rear bench incorporates ISOFIX mounting points for baby seats.
The GWM model also come fitted as standard with rear parking sensors and disk brakes. Upfront features ABS brakes with an electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) system.
