Honda introduced a new compact family SUV to join their stable, the Elevate. The Elevate boasts a comprehensive list of standard features, the trusted 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and much much more. My colleague Ané Albertse tested out the Elevate at its local launch. Globally revealed in mid-2023, the Elevate's concept of 'Urban Freestyler' aims to suit many people's lifestyles. The South African compact car market is cutthroat, to say the least. This is one of those segments where you need to bring your A-Game or bring nothing at all. Honda is here to rumble with the Elevate, focusing on styling, comfort and safety. With this in mind, we'll look at the safety specification offered with this vehicle and what are our Top 3 features.

Safety Equipment

Standard across the range:

  • ABS
  • Vehicle Stability Assist
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Rear View Camera
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Front Driver and Passenger Airbags
  • Front Seatbelt Pretensioners
  • ISOFIX Childseat Anchors

 Additions to the Elegance variant:

  • Front side and side curtain airbags

Our Top 3 Safety Features

1. Hill Start Assist - If hill starts are something you dread, then have no fear in both manual and auto variants

2. Rear View Camera - Although a compact family SUV is relatively easy to manoeuvre in parking situations, a rearview camera is a nice added touch to make parking much easier.

3. ISOFIX Childseat Anchors - Your bambinos would also love to enjoy the ride in the Elevate safely. They can do so with ISOFIX child seat anchors in the rear seats on the outer edges.
