Keep in mind that the Ford Puma comes standard with a host of safety equipment; however, here we are just going to list what we think are the top three most impressive.
1. Lane keep assist
The lane keep assist system will monitor the road markings to the sides of the vehicle. When it detects the vehicle is about to veer outside of its lane, without the indicator turned on, not only will it audibly and visually warn the driver but also autonomously steer the vehicle back into its lane.
2. Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection
A variety of sensors and radars are installed in the Ford Puma. These help with various tasks, such as safely parking without bumping into objects or even detecting the distance for the Adaptive Cruise Control system. These sensors will also detect if a vehicle ahead is decelerating rapidly or if a pedestrian steps in front of the car. In this scenario, the vehicle will automatically start applying the brakes and will audibly and visually alert the driver to take further action.
3. Android Auto / Apple CarPlay
You might think that being able to use your favourite navigation application on your phone or the ability to listen to your favourite podcast via your favourite media streaming application is a comfort feature. Because your smart device is connected to the vehicle, you can safely operate these features, take calls and listen to messages without losing focus on the road. Thus, for us, this feature is a key safety item.
