Top 3 BMW M6 features that stand out from the competition

The BMW M6 has set benchmarks with its flawless balance of power, efficiency, agility, comfort and luxury that is typical of M models.

1. BMW M6 Competition

The Competition Package includes various measures designed to appreciably enrich the cars’ handling. Here the same principle applies as in the development of all BMW M cars: the chassis technology is tuned precisely to the performance characteristics of the powertrain. The result is maximum performance combined with assured and precisely controllable responses at all times — even when pushing the dynamic envelope. To this end, the springs, dampers and anti-roll bars all get firmer tuning. The Active M Differential on the final drive works with its own control unit to further improve traction, allowing the driver to, for example, accelerate even more dynamically out of tight corners. The steering with M-specific Servotronic function has more direct mapping while the M Dynamic Mode of the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system is focused even more intently on delivering sporty handling.

Externally, the BMW M6 Competition models make hearts beat faster with exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels (double-spoke 601M, bi-colour) and mixed tyres, plus black chrome twin tailpipes for the sports exhaust system.

2. Powerful Appearance

The M6 Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe announce their high-performance credentials before they even turn a wheel thanks to their athletic appearance. With its last updates, the front end received new, standard-fitted LED headlights which makes its intentions immediately clear – the M‑specific double-bar kidney grille and eye-catching front apron with large air intakes see to that. The powerfully sculpted front wings with hallmark M gills (including integrated side indicators), the side skirts and the exclusive forged 19-inch M light-alloy wheels (BMW M6 Gran Coupe exclusive forged 20-inch M light-alloy wheels) only add to this impression. The sporting looks of the BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M6 Convertible and BMW M6 Gran Coupe are rounded off by a rear apron with integrated diffuser insert, two sets of M-specific twin tailpipes and the M6 logo on the boot lid. Another exclusive M feature is the ultra-lightweight contoured carbon roof of the BMW M6 Coupe and BMW M6 Gran Coupe, which also helps to lower the cars’ centre of gravity visually.

3. Technology

BMW's iDrive system is so good that it set the bar for numerous imitators. The system and controls are very user-friendly and easily accessible even while driving. More so when paired with the 10.2-inch display. In 2018, the M6 received new additions that included onboard Wi-Fi connection and wireless device charging.

Audio & navigation

In the M6, BMW’s navigation system comes standard with a 10.2-inch display which is usually paired to the Harman Kardon or the Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Smartphone integration

Mobile phone connection enables access to ConnectedDrive services through the display screen (Google search, route planning, travel and news information, among other conveniences). Apple CarPlay is optional, and there's no support yet for Android Auto.

Driver aids

Standard aids on the M6 include a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control and parking sensors. It can also be had with other driver-assist systems such as front collision, lane departure, and blind-spot warning systems; top-view cameras; and night vision which is all available via optional packages.
