Top 3 2020 BMW 1 Series features that stand out from the competition.

The all-new 2020 BMW 1 Series is unlike any of its previous models. Aside from the baby Beemer now being front-wheel drive, it’s styling has also changed. M Performance parts for this model were also revealed.

 

1. 2020 BMW 1 Series styling

Thankfully, BMW has left its other new models to boast the automaker’s new flared-nostrils look as can be seen on the front of X7. The 1 Series does, however, get a bigger grille which follows the design on the new 3 Series whereby the kidneys merge in the center.

While some things get bigger, others get smaller. The bonnet on the new 1 Series is now shorter and in addition to the new slanting headlights, with optional full LEDs, changes the whole face of the car.

 

2. 2020 BMW 1 Series front-wheel drive

The new 1 Series shares a lot of parts with the MINI Countryman and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. And as surprised as everyone was about the front-wheel drive, BMW’s engineers have spent five years developing the car’s front-wheel-drive handling so that it still drives as sportily as a 1 Series should. Additionally, the engineers have also fitted a system called Contiguous Wheel Slip Limitation that is supposed to help improve traction when taking off, cornering and driving in the wet.

 

3. 2020 BMW 1 Series M Performance parts

An array of M Performance parts for the 2020 BMW 1 Series were also revealed. Not only are the looks enhanced but it brings forth genuine performance benefits.

A new aggressive body kit is available that turns the heat up all the way. It features a mesh grille and a carbon fibre front splitter complete with the canard style aero features that you would only expect to see on serious supercars like a Porsche 911 GT3.

On the side, there are black side inserts complete with ‘M Performance’ lettering that runs from the front wheel to the middle of the rear doors. This is further enhanced by a set of, particularly aggressive looking side skirts. There are also carbon fibre wing mirrors in a clear, high-gloss finish.

On the rear, there’s a large boot spoiler and even more prominent rear diffuser.

While the German automaker hasn’t supplied any figures, these ‘lightweight’ parts are said to improve aerodynamics.

Of course, the interior can’t be left out. Inside, there’s a hand-stitched Alcantara sports steering wheel and carbon fibre shift paddles.
