The top 3 safety features on a Chevrolet Spark Lite
In 2010 Chevrolet released a more budget-friendly version of its then outgoing Spark, called the Spark Lite. Let us look at the safety features onboard this micromachine, which can now be had for a steal on the used market, however, its safety, or lack thereof is cause for concern.
At the time of writing, there were nearly 30 examples of the Chevrolet Spark Lite listed for sale on AutoTrader. There are two Chevrolet Spark Lite models, the base model L which features a 0.8-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing just 38kW and the slightly more powerful 1.0-litre three-cylinder model that produces 49kW. As an extremely basic product that comes from a decade ago, the standard safety features are not exactly cutting edge, however, let us have a look at what is on offer.
1.Driver’s airbag
The little Spark Lite features just one airbag for the driver, which may be considered less than acceptable in 2021.
2.Side Impact Protection
This is again considered a basic safety item but considering the fact that even ten years ago the Spark Lite was considered an aged product, so having a basic Side Impact Protection which includes bars that strengthen the side structure in the car and are helpful in the event of a side collision.
3.Central locking
We are scraping the proverbial barrel here, but the third and final safety item on the Spark Lite is central locking, which is considered a good safety item, particularly when children are in the car, ensuring that their doors can be locked and unlocked for safe entry and exit of the vehicle.
