The 6 best similar cars to the Jetour T2

Jetour is causing quite a storm with their T2 SUV, which launched to much fanfare and curiosity. However, what are the best cars similar to the T2?

Jetour is bringing the fire with the T-Seried SUVs. Quite different to the initial vehicles that launched with the brand in South Africa. The T-Series has enjoyed popularity in key markets in the Middle East. One of those vehicles that has found plenty of favour is the T2. The T2 features an attractive off-road-inspired kit, with a theme of adventure. Inside, the rough and tumble is refined to incorporate a touch of luxury and technology as well. Crowning the inside is the large infotainment system and peculiar rectangular steering wheel.

You can have the T2 in either Four Wheel Drive or Front Wheel Drive. The Front Wheel Drive version comes paired with a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, while the Four Wheel Drive version ups the engine capacity to 2.0-litres, and of course, more power. Both variants receive a dual-clutch transmission.

The T2 appears to be decently equipped for leisure, but what are some vehicles that compare nicely to it? Let's see.

BAIC B30

1. BAIC B30 from R519 000

The B30 raises the bar above the current BAIC range. Firstly, the styling is much more impactful, and the performance approach is similar to the T2, as it offers both Front Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive variants. Here, instead of just full ICE power, you can also have the B30 in hybrid guise.

Subaru Forester

2. Subaru Forester from R699 000

Here's a Legacy option that prides itself on its All Wheel Drive prowess and 2.5-litre horizontally opposed engine. While Forester has matured over the years, it's still that dependable option that helped popularise the adventurous SUV.

GWM Tank 300

3. GWM Tank 300 from R649 900

We'd argue the GWM Tank 300 falls more into the hardcore leisure category. It's one of the more off-road-oriented vehicles on this list, and the powertrains on offer offer some variety. You can have a 2.4-litre turbodiesel, 2.0-litre turbo petrol and finally a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid.

Mahindra Scorpio-N

4. Mahindra Scorpio-N from R489 999

A design from Pininfarina, showing off new engineering innovations from the brand and finally displaying the new 'Twin Peaks' logo from the brand. The engines on offer are either petrol or diesel, and you can also opt for the Scorpio-N with Four Wheel Drive.

Geely E5

5. Geely E5 from R699 999

Let's throw in something completely different. Not so much off-road leisure, but an electric SUV from Geely. The E5 features a sleek design, smooth power delivery, and a plush interior. You can expect a range of around 400km from the 60.2 kWh battery.

Haval H7

6. Haval H7 from R604 950

The H7 back in its home country is named "Big Dog". Its size is one thing, but its styling is assured as well. This is another vehicle on this list that can be offered in either full ICE or hybrid guise, as well as Four Wheel Drive.
