Peugeot to build locally!

The big news to come out of the event is that the Peugeot Landtrek will be built in South Africa, making the French brand the 8th OEM to build cars locally. The facility, under construction in Coega, Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, should be completed by the end of 2025, with the brand claiming it will have the first locally produced units ready by early 2026. Production targets are 50 000 units per year, with 40% said to be for the local market and 60% for export. At the event, the brand also showcased a base model single cab and double cab derivative of the Landtrek models, which should be the bread and butter models when these Landtreks are locally produced.
