There are a number of vehicle manufacturers that offer special derivatives of Halo models. These models very often receive special equipment, whether it's styling or drivetrain-wise. These machines are highly sought after by enthusiasts.

Two models that fit the bill are Nissan's Warrior spec Pro4X and Volkswagen's Pan Americana Amarok. How do these two models compare on price, and how much car do you get for the money?

Powertrain

The Nissan Navara Pro4X is powered by a 2.5 DDTi inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 140 kW and 450 Nm. Power is sent through a 7-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, and the system is equipped with low range and diff lock.

Nissan claims 8.1 L/100km on the combined cycle, with real-world figures hovering around 9.0 L/100km, equating to roughly 950km on the 80-litre fuel tank.

Standard Equipment

The Warrior version of the Pro4X is equipped with off-road suspension and enhancements developed by the Australian company Premcar and fitted locally. These enhancements include a 40mm lift, new springs, dampers, and jounce bumpers for improved articulation and control. Interior equipment-wise, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, Dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, and leather-accented seats with Warrior branding and red contrast stitching.

Powertrain

The Amarok is powered by a 3.0 V6 turbocharged diesel engine that produces 184kW and 600Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, and Volkswagen's 4Motion system is also equipped with a low range and diff lock.


Standard Equipment

The Pan Americana is trimmed with leather upholstery on the 10-way electrically adjustable seats and heating for front passengers. There's a 12.0-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation with a 640W Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and dual-zone automatic climate control. The interior comprises soft-touch materials, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rugged rubber floor.
