New vs used Lexus LX: what are top 3 differences?
Lexus is the luxury arm of motoring giant Toyota. Its current ultra-luxurious SUV comes in the form of the LX, a vehicle based on the popular Toyota Land Cruiser 200 VX. This article expands on what the key differences are between a new and used Lexus LX.
The New Lexus LX
The Lexus LX is the brand's flagship SUV and it offers superior exterior and interior craftsmanship. The vehicle is identifiable by the now iconic spindle grille offered by Lexus. The car also features LED headlights and more eye-catching bumpers. It looks a lot more premium than the Toyota alternative on which it is based.

Step inside and the experience gets better. Only the finest materials have been used to give a heightened sense of luxury. A large infotainment screen sits atop the leather stitched dashboard. Rear passengers also have screens available which are mounted to the back of the front seats.
Under the bonnet is either a 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine which develops 270kW/530Nm in the LX570 or a 4.5-litre turbodiesel engine which develops 195kW and an impressive 650Nm featured in the LX450d.

What are the three differences between new and used?
To elaborate on this, we had to source a used option. Thankfully our site has a wide variety of vehicle to choose from and the Lexus LX is one of them. We found the previous model, a 2015 Lexus LX570 which we will use as our base.
1. Price
The latest Lexus LX570 is just shy of two million Rand. Whichever way you look at it that is a lot of money. The one that we found might have 126 000km on the clock but the asking price is around R689 995. You will save a massive R1 200 205, or in simple terms; a three-bedroom house.
2. Features
The latest Lexus LX is full of luxury and safety features such as the latest infotainment screen as well as interior design. On the safety front, the new LX570 features Adaptive cruise control, a feature which allows the driver to maintain a safe following distance by adjusting the speed of the vehicle according to the driving situation. The car also features a pre-safe electronic safety system which utilises sensors to scan the road ahead for obstacles. While the used vehicle does not offer that, it is not void of amenities. The used vehicle offers items such as rear entertainment screens, a large sunroof, 360-degree cameras, heated seats, a Mark Levinson Surround Sound, a third row of seats and a tow bar.
3. Looks
One of the biggest differences is, however, the looks. The latest model is striking; it’s eye-catching and modern in its design whereas the older model does look slightly dated. It does, however, feature shadow chrome rims, a large grille and a sporty bumper it does lack the sharpness of the new model.

Verdict
While the latest Lexus LX model is the cream of the crop, the price is eye-watering high. The amount of money that you will save going used is noteworthy as is the fact that the vehicle offers many luxuries and safety features, sure, they are somewhat dated but they are there. The Lexus LX is also a very capable off-road vehicle and one that should be considered in the segment.
