The KIA stinger made waves back in 2018 when it pounced onto the market and ruffled the feathers of the established rear-drive performance saloon contenders. With an impressive array of tech and performance to match, the KIA Stinger was suddenly an alternative to the slew of German performance sedans that have dominated the markets for decades.
Powered by a 3.3-litre, twin-turbo V6 GDI engine and sending power to the rear wheels, the Stinger GT produces 272 kW at 6 000 rpm and 510 Nm torque from as low as 1 300 rpm. This makes it good for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.9-seconds, making it the fastest accelerating product from KIA. It will top out at a limited 270 km/h.

This model was updated in 2020 to give it a fresh new look. While not a full revamp, several areas were tweaked to make the Stinger even more appealing to the masses.
We're yet to receive word as to whether the updated KIA Stinger will make its way to our shores in the near future but if we look at the pre-orders for the first iteration, where all 18 examples were immediately sold out, it would make sense for KIA to at least entertain the idea.
Here are the 5 key differences between the old and the new.
1. Front end revamp
Up at the front, the new Stinger gets a redesigned front grille and revisions to the headlights. The LED units now feature new LED Daytime Running Lights and a darker housing for a more aggressive look. This is complemented by a darkened lower front splitter.
2. Stylish rear end
At the back, the taillights have been redesigned to enhance the lines of the rear and complement the integrated rear spoiler section of the boot lid. These taillights have reimagined LED elements for a sleek and futuristic look.
Just below the bumper, rests a set of larger bore exhaust tips that are now finished in satin silver. This is unique to the GT models.
3. New wheels
The 2020 model year KIA Stinger get two new wheel designs with a geometric flair to highlight the Grand Touring nature of the vehicle. These offset the new colour made available to the Stinger as well.
4. Interior trimmings
There was no need to reinvent the wheel when it came to the interior and the updated model only sees some minor revisions to the interior. A new satin silver finish has been applied to the lower section of the steering wheel and this complements the garnish around the gauge binnacle. Raised stitching helps add an air of sophistication to the upholstery.
5. Updated infotainment
KIA has elected to fit the new Stinger with their latest infotainment system that features a 10.25-inch full-colour display. This unit features the latest functionality and allows for control over the 64-colour ambient lighting package.
