 While there are many differences between a used and new car, here are our top 5 differences between a used and new Fiat 500.

Peppy styling

Almost 4 million units of Italy’s “great little car” have been produced since its introduction in 1957. With many editions and revisions the car will differ in terms of its exterior and interior design all the while it remains unmistakably 500. New models are more colourful and feature better looking design alloy rims – 15-inch and 16-inch, and there are also diamond-finished wheels (Find Tyre sizes by model: Fiat 500 (2008 - present) here). There are also plenty more customizable options and colour combinations on newer cars that include things like the 'Second Skin' collection.

More tech and refinement

The 500 has not really grown in size but a newer model will be filled with more technology, newer engine versions and customisation ideas. In this way, the 500 icon evolved and its features were refined. Newer models can be had with Rear Park Assist, HMI

(Human Machine Interface) in the integrated display with the rest of the on-board electronics, and Digital Indicators for fuel, engine, coolant and temperature.

All of this is displayed on a 7-inch TFT digital display developed by Magneti Marelli. Depending on the version of your new 500, the TFT display is available with two different basic graphics and it also changes appearance with the driving mode set: Normal, Sport or Eco. Even the Rear Park Assist display will be customised according to your new 500 model, while you can control the tyre pressure with the TPMS function.

Engines

In 2010, two petrol units were available in the form of a 51 kW 1.2-litre and the 73.5 kW 1.4-litre. Both these engines were Euro 4-compliant.

Fast forward to 2016, where the engine line-up consisted of the 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine with two different power outputs of 62.5kW or 77kW. These two-cylinder engines boasted record-breaking performance as the engineers were even more focused on sustainable future mobility.

Old models of the Fiat 500 had a simple Radio with CD and MP3 compatibility.
