New vs old Mazda CX-3: what are top 5 differences?

Last year, Mazda Southern Africa launched an updated Mazda CX-3 at dealerships throughout Southern Africa. The CX-3 received minor modifications for the 2019 model.

 

1. Design improvements 

• Front fog lamp bezel colour change to black
• Up-styled 18 inch alloy wheels with multi-faceted spokes
• Mazda grill refined to consist of fewer, more pronounced lines
• Representing the next level of Mazda’s premium colour palette, Soul Red Crystal is now available across the range
• LED rear combination lamps are now available for the Individual and Individual Plus derivatives

 

2. Interior updates

• Front centre console armrest from the Active derivative gives a more premium finish and enhanced comfort 
• Electric parking brake (EPB) introduced from the Active derivative
• The rear centre seat armrest with cup holders
• Automatic dimming rearview mirror (available from the Dynamic derivative)
• The Individual and Individual Plus derivatives now come standard with full leather seat upholstery

 

3. Quieter cabin

Mazda has made the cabin a little quieter. Thicker door panels, rear-door glass, and improved door seams have lowered the noise level in the CX-3.

 

4. Engine

The CX-3 is still fitted with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC S-VT but it has received very subtle revisions to its engine. Mazda has refined the engine by reducing internal friction and more which resulted in a gain of horsepower, an extra two horsepower. It doesn't sound like a notable upgrade but Mazda has said a surge of added strength will be felt when behind the wheel.

5. Warranty

Old and new models won't differ in this regard. The All-New Mazda CX-3 retains its warranties. All CX-3 models are backed up by:

• 3-year Unlimited kilometre Factory Warranty
• 3-year Roadside Assistance
• 3-year Service Plan 
• 5-year Corrosion Warranty
