Deciding which trim level of a certain model to buy can be difficult. We take a look at Toyota’s Aygo, and see which trim level represents the best value for money, by balancing safety and equipment against their list prices.

The Aygo is Toyota’s budget friendly entry level runaround, and it’s packed with style and attitude.

We wanted to know which of the trim levels was the best value for money so we took the current offerings, and looked at safety equipment and -systems, of then off course luxury items.

Toyota Aygo 1.0

The entry level model comes in at a very pocket friendly R 168 500, and you get a very good standard equipment level. You will get four airbags up front, ABS, BA (Brake Assist), VSC (Vehicle stability Control), HAC (Hill Assist Control), 14-inch alloys, and a decent audio system with Bluetooth and steering wheel controls.

Toyota Aygo 1.0 X-Play

With the X-Play, you are going to get almost exactly the same features, but the option of a two-tone paint job will raise that pocket-friendly price by a few thousand rand to R 170 800. 

Toyota Aygo 1.0 X-Cite

The X-Cite is the most expensive but is also the most well equipped. It has very much the same equipment levels but gets a total of 6 airbags, keyless entry, bigger alloy wheels and a folding soft top roof. These few additions bump up the price to R 195 500.

Verdict

If you like the idea of a few extra creature comforts, curtain airbags and the sun shining on your head, then the X –Cite is the way to go. If you can live without the soft top, our pick of the litter would absolutely be the X-Play as it represents the best balance of safety options, tech and value for money, with an added shot of style to boot.
