What's new on the GLS?

Both the Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach versions of the GLS have received a raft of updates, which include:

  • The Mercedes-Benz GLS features a more prominent radiator grille, redesigned bumper, and new 20-inch alloy wheels.
  • The Mercedes-Maybach stands out with vertical chrome bars, Maybach lettering, and 23-inch forged wheels.
  • The Maybach GLS 600 features ambient lighting, animated projection, and diamond-pattern quilting on seat covers.
  • The Benz GLS offers revised interior trim finishes, including options previously exclusive to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
  • The Benz GLS has functional off-road features such as an underride guard and enhanced ground clearance, which makes it suitable for easy to moderately difficult terrains.
  • Both models feature an updated MBUX infotainment system, offering customizable displays, enhanced driver integration, and off-road mode with a "transparent bonnet" function for better obstacle recognition.
  • Both models have new paint finishes, the latest steering wheel generation, and improved voice assistant functionality.
  • Optional MBUX Multi-Seat Entertainment system provides rear-seat occupants with comprehensive infotainment features.

Drivetrains

The engine range includes a petrol and a diesel in the Benz models, with the GLS 580 4Matic coming with a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that produces 380kW and 730Nm, with an additional 16kW coming from its 48-volt electrical system. A diesel engine, in the 450d 4Matic, is also available,  which displaces 3.0 litres and produces 270kW and 750Nm with an extra 15kW from a 48-volt electrical system. The Maybach model, badged the GLS 600 4Matic, is also powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol motor, but it produces 410kW and 770Nm, with a 48-volt system adding 16kW.
