In the Mahindra Scorpio range, there's the S4, S6 and S10 derivative. We take a look at what each has to offer.

S4

The  S4 Pik Up derivative is available in a Single Cab body style as it is simply a workhorse only, whereas the S6 and S10 are available in single and double cab versions.

Standard features on the S4 include power steering, central locking, and a USB port. Micro-hybrid technology was introduced to enable the engine to intelligently switch into standby mode when not in use, saving both on fuel and the environment.

Safety features include side impact protection bars and a seatbelt reminder. There are no airbags in the S4. There is also a digital engine immobiliser which has an encrypted key recognition system that will reject any foreign key from gaining access to your bakkie. This is further supported by the anti-theft warning system to protect against illegal entry.

S6

Featuring the same standard features as the S4, the Mahindra S6 Pik Up has a few extra items as well as availability in double-cab form and 4x2 and 4x4 derivatives.

On the exterior, the S6 has the addition of colour-coded bumpers, mirrors and door handles.

For comfort and convenience, the S6 has (above the S4) a manual air conditioner, power windows, central locking, keyless entry, and an integrated audio system with USB and auxiliary. Upholstery is composed of fabric as opposed to vinyl in the S4.

In terms of performance, the S4 is fitted with a new Cushion Suspension and Anti-Roll Technology which provides 'unparalleled stability and road holding', while ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake distribution) will keep you steady in hazardous situations.

There are much more safety features on the S6. These include dual front airbags, side impact protection bars, seat belt pretensioner, collapsible steering column, seatbelt reminder and auto-locking doors. The S6 also has the Micro-hybrid start/stop technology and the digital engine immobiliser, in addition to, Follow Me Home headlamps and the automatic headlamp reminder.

S10

The S10 Pik Up is also available in single and double cab versions as well as 4x2 and 4x4 derivatives. It features everything the S6 has with only a handful more of extras. If comfort, convenience and luxury are what you're after then the S10 is where you should your money as it's best specced for exactly that.

As with the S6, standard features include front fog lamps, dual projector headlamps, high-level brake light, colour-coded bumpers, colour-coded mirrors, colour-coded door handles, mud flaps, side step, integrated bonnet scoop, side mouldings and the S10 has the addition of a heated rear window.
