Land Rover Discovery Sport trims head to head: here’s our winner.

We look at four of the trims available on the Land Rover Discovery Sport and their various offerings, assessing which one presents the best value for money.

Buying a Car

With 12 different paint choices, 4 roof options, 10 different wheel designs and 5 interior colour combinations, the Land Rover Discovery Sport offers you more than enough choice and opportunity to create the Land Rover that best describes you. With the updated Discovery Sport landing in the upcoming months, we thought you'd like to see what they have to offer.

On top of the plethora of options and choices, you have to choose from one of four different trim levels, each one offering more than the next.

Here's how the various trim levels stack up and which one comes out on top!

Land Rover Discovery Sport S

18-inch alloy wheels (style 5075)

LED headlights

Animated rear indicators

Auto-dimming, electric fold, heated door mirrors

Auto dim rearview mirror

Ebony leather seats

12-way electric front seats

10-Touch Pro infotainment

Analogue dials with TFT display

Connected Navigation Pro

Online Pack (4G Wifi Hotspot and Live Apps)

Smartphone pack – Apple CarPlay

Cruise Control and Speed Limiter

Land Rover Discovery Sport R-Dynamic S

The R-Dynamic package takes all the great equipment from the S but then adds the following into the mix:

18-inch alloy wheels (style 5074)

Ebony leather seats with Mars Red stitch

Land Rover Discovery Sport R-Dynamic SE

The SE package takes things one step further by building on the R-Dynamic S package. As such you get all the above but the R-Dynamic SE adds the following:

19-inch alloy wheels (style 1039)

Premium LED headlights

Front and rear animated indicators

Auto high beam assist

Power tailgate

Blind Spot Assist

Land Rover Discovery Sport R-Dynamic HSE

The top-of-the-range R-Dynamic HSE is top-of-the-range Discovery Sport on offer. It's takes everything that the other offer and then turns the volume up to 11. This means that you get:

20-inch alloy wheels (style 5089)

ClearSight interior rearview mirror

Keyless entry

Illuminated treadplates

Drive Pack with Blind Spot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and High-speed Emergency Braking

Which one wins!?

Depending on which engine you choose (and of course, the host of options) the prices vary significantly. If the current model's pricing is to be followed, there will be a large gap between the S and the HSE.

Considering the standard spec level with regards to the drivetrain and 4x4 system, the extras of the HSE hardly feel worth the extra cost. Our pick would be an R-Dynamic SE and then whichever engine tickles your fancy.
