Many bakkie enthusiasts appreciated the X-Rider variant in the previous generation D-Max. Isuzu's bakkie has always been a trusty steed, but what if you dialled up the style factor more? That's essentially what the X-Rider is, and the current D-Max range recently received the updated version of the variant. You can check out our full review of the 4x4 model here.

The X-Rider is pretty much a styling package but elevates the D-Max's aesthetics. The running gear remains the same in the sense that you get the same 1.9 turbodiesel engine making 110kW and 350Nm, but you can have the X-Rider in either automatic or manual, 4x2 or 4x4.

Exterior

The X-Rider follows a particular 3-colour swatch. Regarding the maprimaryody colour ranges from red, grey, white and silver. The constants, however, are gloss black on the main exterior trim pieces like the front grille, mirror caps, door handles, wheel accents, and even the fashion. The red accents are also applied to the Isuzu and X-Rider badging. The 18-inch six-spoke wheels are bling and wrapped in General All Terrain tyres. Other exterior pieces include side steps, a tonneau cover, and last up are LED headlamps with projectors.

The dashboard features a central touchscreen display showing the time (10:04) and various control buttons. Below the screen are the air conditioning controls and gear shift lever. The interior has a modern design with black and red accents, and a water bottle is visible in the cup holder on the center console. Interior

Inside, the colour swatch is black and red, and continues with the seats and dash trim. The seating is leather-clad with red stitching. The X-Rider logo is cleverly placed on the headrest in the corner. The dash trim includes the X-Rider logo and transitions from red to black neatly to blend in with the radio bezel. The Isuzu logo on the steering wheel is also finished in red and the instrument binnacles have been restyled with red and white as well. Last up, you get X-Rider-specific rubber floor mats.

The image is taken from the back seat, providing a clear view of the front seats and part of the dashboard. The windows are slightly tinted, and the outside scenery is visible through them. The AutoTrader logo is displayed in the top left corner of the image.

Does it all look good?

We reckon the X-Rider treatment has been tastefully executed. The colour swatch doesn't look garish, and the treatment has been neatly done inside and out. It's sure to increase the D-Max's kerb appeal while not compromising its abilities.

If you're keen on a D-Max X-Rider you can search AutoTrader for the latest used and new offerings and sell your car too.
