Is the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro expensive to repair?
Inherent concerns about a new model, especially with the reintroduction of a brand, raise questions about the future of the model and the associated costs of ownership. We look at the standard warranties and parts availability for the Chery Tiggo Pro 8.
Chery has reemerged onto the local scene and in the process set the cat amongst the pigeons. Gone are the questionable crossovers and Fischer-Price hatchbacks and in their stead, we're resented with a range of impressive SUVs that not only look great but offer great technology and components.

Three models are currently on sale in South Africa, all wearing the Tiggo nameplate. The range starts with the compact Tiggo 4 Pro and then extends to the slightly larger Tiggo 7 Pro. Both of these models accommodate 5 passengers and utilize a fuss-free CVT transmission to drive the front wheels. The Tiggo 8 Pro and Pro Max offer seating for 7 passengers and employ a dual-clutch gearbox, also sending power to the front wheels.
The Tiggo 8 Pro is the flagship model line and offers a choice of either a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the latter only available in the Pro Max. Power outputs are either 145 kW for the 1.6-litre or 187 kW for the 2.0-litre version.
Tiggo 8 Pro repair costs
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro was launched in February 2022 and as such all models are still under a year old (at the time of writing). As a result, all models available, both new and used, are still covered by the comprehensive 10-year/1 000 000 km engine warranty, 5-year/150 000 km general warranty and the 5-year/60 000 km service plan.
Service parts are covered by the service plan and are readily available through the dealership network. Replacement parts are stocked to a certain degree with other, less common items requiring importing from China.
As such, it's not possible to accurately gauge the costs to repair as these vehicles are still rather new. A better idea of the replacement cost for parts will only be available in the months and years to come as further studies are done into common faults and failures.
