Being a high-performance version of the Audi A3, the RS3 (read our launch report) is packed with 294 kW and 500 Nm of torque. With its aggressive styling, blistering acceleration and sport-tuned suspension, the RS3 is mostly aimed at enthusiasts looking for a fun-to-drive experience, and not really marketed at families. Petrol-heads will appreciate the sport-tuned suspension but the ride can be quite uncomfortable for others over bumps, and the engine is also quite loud under acceleration which may disturb younger passengers - imagine putting baby down for a nap in his car seat, only for Dad to floor the accelerator minutes later... baby awake and tears all around.
The RS3's aggressive styling with large wheels (and low-profile tyres) also means higher maintenance costs - but those who can afford the RS3 probably don't stress about finances too much anyway.

How often should an Audi RS3 Sedan be serviced?
Space and Comfort
Despite being classified as a sports car, the RS3 sedan offers plenty of space for a family of four. It has a relatively roomy cabin with comfortable front seats and good head and legroom for adults. If you need to put a passenger on the rear middle seat, you can, but it's not recommended for longer trips. The boot provides a decent 380 litres of cargo space.
The RS3 comes well-equipped with features that families will appreciate. Standard features include dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, keyless entry and push-button start, along with a plethora of options to tailor the RS3 to your exact preferences. Safety features are top-of-the-range too.
Verdict
While the Audi RS3 sedan delivers an exhilarating driving experience, it comes with some trade-offs that parents should consider. If you can look past the firmer ride, higher noise levels and increased costs, the RS3 offers enough space, comfort and on-board tech work for busy families. However, for those who prioritise a smoother ride and lower costs, one of Audi's more conventional family sedans or SUVs may be a better choice.
