Is a used Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

We take a look at the legendary S-Class and see if it will make a good used car

Buying a Car

Superior class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has long been held as the flagship for the German brand. The S-Class is the vehicle that gets all of Mercedes's new technology first. This luxurious sedan was the first to sport ABS, Adaptive cruise control, pre-collision sensing, night vision cameras, and an advanced suspension that anticipated road surface changes.

Through its many iterations, the S-Class has remained a great vehicle for those that enjoy the finer things in life.

Second-hand luxury

The question of whether a used S-Class is any good comes down to a few factors. The age, condition, service history and a warranty / service plan will all come into play. Due to its advanced technology and heavily integrated systems that rely on one another, if anything breaks or malfunctions it will be a pricey affair to replace. You will definitely want to ensure that the car is mechanically and electrically in good condition and that the overall condition is well maintained.

If you can find a pristine specimen you need to be prepared to spend continuously to keep the vehicle in that state or face the possibility of mounting costs to keep everything working properly.

The S Class will make a great used car if you are not planning on keeping it for an extended time period.
