How popular is the Ford Everest Wildtrak?

The offroad SUV is a popular choice in South Africa for its versatility and recreational features, and one vehicle that comes to mind is the Ford Everest, but how popular is the Wildtrak?

The Ford Everest Wildtrak aims to be an upmarket option for the offroad SUV market, and it does so pretty well. My colleague Sean Nurse had the Everest Wildtrak on test, and you can read his thoughts here.

Based on the award-winning Ranger model, the new platform has received much fanfare and rightfully so. The Everest Wildtrak slots in just below the top-of-the-range Platinum. It uses the V6 turbodiesel found in the Platinum derivative but has some bespoke to the Wildtrak styling cues. Such cues include Wildtrak badging inside and out, as well as colour-coded yellow stitching around the interior.  This would make the Everest Wildtrak smash hit, but how popular is the Everest Wildtrak?

Wow, how popular is the Ford Everest Wildtrak, though?

According to NAAMSA (National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa), in November 2023 alone, Ford sold a total of 2910 vehicles in South Africa. This includes both passenger and commercial vehicles. Breaking down that figure for passenger vehicles specifically shows the following 516 Ford models sold:

  • Ecosport - 30
  • Puma - 132
  • Mustang - 8
  • Everest - 346

The Everest, from these numbers, shows that it got the lion's share of the passenger car sales. While we don't have the figures for the Wildtrak derivative specifically, it still shows the popularity of the Everest nameplate as a whole. Keep in mind that the Everest is a premium vehicle as well, with base pricing starting from the R800 000 mark. From what we can see here, Everest popularity is undoubtedly gaining steam. You can add to those figures and search AutoTrader for your Everest Wildtrak purchase and sell your car too.
