The Jaecoo name translates to 'The Cool Hunter', and the J7 model forms part of the brand's maiden voyage into South Africa, with more to come. My colleague Ryno Fourie had the J7 on test, and you can peruse his thoughts here.

The J7 is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 145 kW and 290 Nm. Power is sent via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to either the front wheels or all four wheels if you opt for the range-topping Inferno model. This is a pretty decent powertrain for puttering about in town or off the beaten path. How often must you service this powertrain, though?
Jaecoo J7 Servicing
The Jaecoo J7 needs to be serviced every 15,000 km or annually, whichever comes first. This forms part of the 5-year /75 000 km service plan. In addition, there's a 5-year /150 000km warranty and a 10-year /1 million km warranty on the engine for the first owner. This is a pretty hardy plan, and provided you keep the service intervals and take care of the vehicle, it will last a long time.
