When the Toyota Urban Cruiser stormed onto the market in 2021, Toyota couldn't have anticipated the warm welcome it would receive. Sales figures soon showed that the cost-effective crossover was turning out to be a family favourite, popular with new drivers, despite the fact that an achingly similar product was on offer from Suzuki at the same time.

That's right, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is, in fact, a rebadged Suzuki. This is not a bad thing though as Suzuki automobiles are renowned for their reliability, ease of use, and low running costs. Toyota wouldn't put its badge on something that it didn't believe in.
The first generation Urban Cruiser shared its origins with the Suzuki Vitara Brezza but when the Urban Cruiser was replaced in 2023, it received a comprehensive rethink and is now based on the Suzuki Grand Vitara. It's worth noting that while the Grand Vitara and new Urban Cruiser are priced similarly, there are a few key differences between the two products and you will need to see which offering best suits your needs.
Model range
The Toyota Urban Cruiser range comprises two models with the option of a manual or automatic gearbox in the top-sec trim. The entry model is only available with a manual gearbox. Both models are equipped with the same 1.5-litre engine that produces 77 kW and 138 Nm torque.
XR trim is your higher-spec trim level and features niceties such as alloy wheels, roof rails, cruise control, and a 4-speaker audio system while the XS trim level has to make do with steel wheels with wheel covers, 2 airbags, and a 2-speaker audio system.
How much will it cost me each month?
Cars are expensive purchases and only a very select few are able to buy them outright, once off.
