How much are car repayments on a new Toyota Land Cruiser 200?

The Land Cruiser 200 is Toyota's flagship SUV offering and has over the decades garnered much respect for its reliability and off-road capability. We calculate what the estimated monthly instalment will be on both the GX-R and VX-R derivatives.

What could be one of the most popular nameplates in both developed and developing countries, the Land Cruiser first came onto the scene in the early-'50s and was first called the "Toyota Jeep BJ". The model went on to become popular for its reliability and off-road capabilities in the most remote and tough terrain all over the world.

Representing the top of Toyota's SUV product offerings, the Land Cruiser incorporates high levels of refinement on both the exterior and interior while retaining its tough credentials. Currently, there are two Land Cruiser 200 derivatives on offer, the GX-R which is more utility focussed while the VX-R retains more luxury materials and driver assistance systems.

To get a good idea of the monthly instalments on the Toyota Land Cruiser range, we used the following baseline criteria. The base price of each vehicle (excluding options) are calculated over the maximum period of 72 months without a balloon or residual payment. The interest rate is set at an estimated 12% and a 10% deposit or trade-in is included.

Readers should note that vehicle prices can change due to the exchange rate and that these calculations are only a guide. As of September 2020, the prices listed below for the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 GX-R and VX-R are correct. The instalments calculated was done using our AutoTrader Finance Calculator and individual finance applications might see the final amount differ as a variety of factors such as banking fees and your credit profile will play a part.

Land Cruiser 200 GX-R

Both derivatives are built on a ladder frame chassis and come fitted with a 4.5-litre, turbocharged, V8 petrol motor producing 195 kW and 650 Nm of torque. However, the GX-R variant is more utilitarian focussed with its cloth interior and smaller 17-inch wheels. Compared side by side with VX-R, the GX-R lack a host of comfort features and soft-touch materials on the interior and offer simpler exterior styling.

The GX-R, however, retains the off-road performance but it does come at a price, R 1 107 900 to be exact. Using the criteria set out above, we calculated that the estimated monthly instalment on a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 GX-R is R 19 493.69 and over the 72 months, the total amount of interest accumulated is R 406 435.86 resulting in the total repayment being R 1 403 545.86.

Land Cruiser 200 VX-R

Those looking to combine the performance and reliability with extra safety and comfort features might prefer the VX-R variant. This offering sees the incorporation of not only larger 18-inch wheels and more stylish exterior fixtures, but also a host of additional driver aiding systems. From as simple as high-beam assist and park distance control, to more advanced systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.

All this extra specification does come at a premium which results in the purchase price being R 1 540 300. Using the criteria set out above, we calculated that the estimated monthly instalment on a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 VX-R is R 27 101.85 and over the 72 months, the total amount of interest accumulated is R 565 062.87 resulting in the total repayment being R 1 951 332.87.
